Caring, Experienced, Collaborative
Practice Specialties
We use a variety of theoretical orientations and approaches to meet the individual needs of our clients. These include Relationship, Systems, Cognitive Behavioral, Supportive, Collaborative Problem Solving and Psychodynamic.
Child, Adolescent and Play Therapy
Primary to our work with children and adolescents is a warm and accepting relationship. Through emotional support we help clients resolve conflicts, understand feelings and solve problems. We recognize the importance of parents and family members and encourage their involvement in the therapeutic process. We individually assess each child’s developmental level, history and needs to tailor our therapeutic approach. Our work with children and adolescents incorporates the use of play, drawing, and pretending in addition to talking.
Couple and Family Therapy
We view the family as a unique emotional unit and focus on relationships and interactional patterns. We help couples and families build on strengths and improve relational resiliency. Our solution-focused approach improves communication, conflict resolution and problem solving skills.
Individual Therapy
The foundation of psychotherapy is establishing a genuine and caring relationship with a therapist. As therapy progresses and trust is established, this relationship is used as a workspace to resolve problems. We value the therapeutic relationship and make it central to our work. We individualize our approach and use a variety of techniques to best meet the specific needs of our clients.
Establishing a helping relationship is the foundation of successful therapy. We use a strength-based approach, building on an individual’s experience and competencies.
